About Us

Hi! I'm Daniel Schroeder, founder of Mom's Kitchen and creator of Peanut Pupper. Our story began in 2020 with a conversation I had with my mom in, well, her kitchen.

That day I learned Mom had spent years waking up every night with throbbing pain in her knees and ankles from arthritis and neuropathy, but she only told us after she had discovered something that made it go away.

Both of my parents had lifelong careers in healthcare: Mom as a registered nurse and Dad as a medical doctor. So together they had explored the conventional treatments available, but none of them had really helped her. Then Mom read about some emerging yet promising studies on the cannabis plant extract known as cannabidiol (CBD). With nothing to lose, she tried it herself and found it was the first and only thing to give her some relief from her conditions.

You know how moms always want to help their children with all of their problems but are reluctant to share any of their own problems until long after the fact? When Mom told me about all of this, I felt sad that she had struggled silently with the pain for so long, then glad that she had found relief. Then I began to wonder: how many other people are struggling with excruciating inflammation and pain, yet remain unaware of this solution? Maybe it could help them like it helped Mom.

So we started making products right there in her kitchen, starting with the basics like our CBD-infused tinctures (oils made to be ingested) and topicals (salves for putting on where it hurts).

We started selling our products at our local farmers market, and very soon our customers were coming back to us with great results!

Before long, some customers started asking if we could make something for their dogs. When the first person asked, my initial response was, "Do you have a dog?" at which point they looked down at the super calm Shih Tzu they were holding directly in front of me. It was so calm, I hadn’t even noticed it! They told me that before they found CBD, their dog was so anxious it couldn’t go out in public. Once they started giving it CBD, it was so calm they could take it anywhere, even to a busy farmers market.

Their dog wasn’t a zombie. It didn’t look stoned. It just looked super calm and comfortable.

We started doing research and found that dogs respond to CBD the same way people do, so we started with our first product which was a CBD Dog Treat. It quickly became the #1 product people came back for, which was very encouraging. The feedback we got from our customers and the fact that they kept coming back convinced us more and more of how well it was working.

Through their stories, we found CBD helped all kinds of dogs in all kinds of situations that normally cause anxiety: fireworks, thunderstorms, staying home alone, riding in a car, or going to the vet, the groomer, or a boarding kennel.

The most dramatic impact, however, has been for older dogs with mobility issues.

We had one married couple who came back for their second purchase and told us about their old buddy whose arthritis was getting so bad they thought they were going to have to put him down. They would set food out, and he would just stare across the room as if to say, “I’m hungry, but it hurts too much to walk over there and eat.” Then the husband came home from work one day to find his dog running around like a puppy. He asked his wife what happened, and she said, “Well, I started giving him this CBD product at the farmers market, and he doesn’t seem to be hurting anymore.” That was more than a year ago and, as of when we last spoke, he was still running around, healthy and happy.

If you’re like me, your dog really is your best friend. If your dog is hurting, they can’t ask you for medicine or drive themselves to the store for something, but you can help them. That’s why we make our CBD-infused peanut butter, and why we are working on a chewy recipe for CBD dog treats.

If you or a loved one (human OR pup) are struggling with anxiety or can’t get relief from inflammation and pain from conditions like arthritis, we may be able to help. It’s a joy and a privilege to hear from so many repeat customers about how our CBD-infused products have improved their lives!

If ever find yourself in Bentonville, Arkansas on a Saturday, stop by the farmers market to say hello and sample our peanut butter. It’s human-grade, so you can taste it, too. If you love it, you know that your pup definitely will! Even better, bring your pup! The market is pet-friendly, and we love making new furry friends.

In the meantime, you can order it right here and we will ship to anywhere in the United States.
